Lucky Green Milk

This weekend we headed up to Jellystone in Warrens for a quick weekend away. They have a great new indoor waterpark that the boys love - yes ALL of the boys :). In addition, we got a peek at our new cabin that is under construction. Even better, we were able to stay in a cabin that is the same style. We can't wait for it to be done!

In addition, since Saturday was St. Patricks Day, some silly leprechauns came to our cabin and turned the milk & bottled water green. G even determined that the grapes had been red the night before and had been turned green overnight.

For the rest of the weekend, the boys kept asking to have a glass of the "lucky green milk"

One other fun activity we did was the "black light" mini golf. It was a lot of fun and the boys really started playing by the rules, counting strokes, and showing their skill. Really cool!

Atlanta Aquarium

The Atlanta aquarium is really neat. I was down in Atlanta on business and got the opportunity to visit the aquarium. I was very impressed. It is quite large and has the largest tank in the county (maybe the world). My favorite things were the beluga whales, the crabs, the seahorses, the penguins, oh heck - it was all cool.
I highly recommend this if you are in the Atlanta area.

Big Ten Championship

We got a last minute opportunity to go to the Big Ten Championship game in Chicago. It was a lot of fun - it's just too bad that the Badgers didn't win. Hopefully this loss will fuel their drive in the NCAA tournament. We went with our Badger Basketball loving buddies Beth & Rick.

I have to say that watching the game from a Suite is the way to go. Everything you need is right there - food, drink, TV, restrooms, and even a dessert cart!

Thanks to Steve for giving us the ticket opportunity!

The Artic Blast Indoor Snowball Fight

With a new school you have great facilities, but often you still need lots of stuff - like books, playground equipment, etc. We have a fabulous new school, and luckily some great volunteers to spearhead our fundraising efforts. My friend Tammy is in charge of box tops. The latest & greatest promotion was a competition to see which two classes could bring in the most box tops. Those two classes earned an "indoor snowball fight" in addition to the artic blast fun that the entire school earned.

Yes - Mrs. Schmalz's first grade class, of which we are members, pulled through and came in first place! So the indoor snowball fight was on. The kids loved it! They used yarn balls as their snowballs, and has athletic mats as shields. It was a huge hit! Thanks Tammy for the ideas and hard work, and the kids for making it happen.

A No Complaints World

http://ccunitykc.org/

Is that really possible? I'm not sure, but I am sure it would be better if we had less complaining and more actions to resolve the underlying problems. I realize I'm bad at this as well, but I saw a segment on the today show about a pledge to be complaint free for 21 days. I think that is an admirable goal, and I actually ordered some of the bracelets for my family & work folks. Even if we don't make the goal, it may help us focus on the positive instead of the negative. Always a good thing in my book.

So, in the spirit of the pledge, instead of complaining about a late flight tonight - I'm glad I could eat some sushi at my favorite airport restaurant and relax. It's all good.

Gulfport Mission

Rob just got back from a short mission trip to Gulfport to help with rebuilding/cleanup after Katrina. It's been 18 months, but it still looks like the hurricane came through last week. They say it may take 10 years to totally rebuild. It was a great experience and he looks forward to doing it again. It's nice to know that people are still committed to helping out. Next week there is a group of 80 college students going down to help out in the same community. It's this type of experience that makes you realize that many many people do care about those less fortunate - something that at times goes unnoticed.
